Panathlon 2019

On March 12th we attended the Yorkshire Regional Final Panathlon Challenge. It was a fantastic day held at Fulford School. Our school showed amazing team spirit and encouragement towards other members of the Joseph Rowntree team and to other schools when taking part in their events. Even though our team was short of numbers it meant that the students needed to compete in multiple games at the same time or even compete in games that they would not normally play. Our students were fantastic, they were very understanding, and their moral and team spirit was still at a high.

Northern Regional Panathlon Finals

I took our Panathlon team to the Northern Regional Panathlon finals on Thursday 18th October at Fulford School. We were again up against our fiercest rivals Calderdale, who were representing West Yorkshire. Unfortunately they beat us again but victory was not quite as dominant as in previous years. We ran them close and were only beaten by 4 points with a fantastic total score of 52.

Polli:Nation Project - Bloom!

Year 8 have been developing the school garden to support pollinator species. Students studied different strategies for improving pollinator populations such as building insect hotels, introducing flowering plants and reducing the use of pesticide chemicals. We then purchased all the materials using a generous grant provided by Polli:Nation, a heritage lottery funded biodiversity and education project. On project day everyone worked exceptionally hard throughout by pulling up weeds and planting shrubbery to attract the bees.

Hoax Email Threat

Our school, like many others has been sent a threatening message. North Yorkshire Police has looked at the messages and believes that there isn’t any genuine threat and that it is a hoax email. In fact the email is believed to have been sent to many schools across the UK.
