At the start of the Easter break, forty-six students and six staff took part in the school's seventh biannual football and rugby tour of northern Italy.  As ever, it was a great success and a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

The tour started in Milan where we visited the city centre and San Siro Stadium before suffering two hard-fought defeats in twenty-five degree heat to Rho Rugby Club and Rhodense FC. After the matches we were all welcomed back at Rho Rugby Club for an evening meal, continuing the excellent relationship built up between the school and the club over the last thirteen years.

Following this, we moved to our main base, the superb family run Hotel San Vito in Valpolicella, near Verona. We visited the beautiful town of Sirmione Del Garda, at the southern tip of Lake Garda before playing out a 1-1 draw against regular tour opponents FC Bussolengo on the 3G pitch in the evening. The next day we went to the wonderful city of Verona, always a favourite part of the tour, before playing our final matches, a respectable 28-12 loss at Valpolicella Rugby club and an emphatic 13-0 victory against their footballing counterparts, Valpolicella Calcio. On the final day we visited Italy's largest theme park, Gardaland, before beginning the journey home.

The students on the tour were a real credit to the school. Behaviour was exemplary and their attitude and commitment in all of their matches was magnificent. My thanks go to all of the parents for supporting this event and allowing it to happen once again, and to the staff (Mr Ayres, Mr Bowry, Mr Brierley, Mr Dempsey and Mr Simpson) for giving up their holiday time to enable the students to benefit from this experience.
