Library
The purpose-built library in the Learning Resource Centre is a welcoming and relaxing space. It includes a classroom area; a designated library Chromebook trolley; a library with over 10,000
resources including books and magazines; and a comfortable seating area for quiet reading.
Displays, quizzes and competitions promote reading for pleasure, and students are encouraged to write reviews and to request new titles. Additional book-inspired events and activities take place throughout the year. Students can use Accessit, our on-line library catalogue, to search for books, read and write book reviews and find links to various approved websites.
Students have access to the library during library lessons as part of the English curriculum. When lessons are not taking place in the LRC classrooms, students can visit the library to choose and return
library books, read and study. Student librarians support the work of the librarian and new student librarians are always welcome!
Digital Resources
In addition to our print collection, students have access to a wide range of eBook titles through our permanent VLE digital collection and our subscription to Wheeler’s ePlatform. There are approximately 1,400 children’s and YA books available on the ePlatform which can be accessed by clicking the ELibrary Link below. Students will then be able to sign in using their Google account. The ePlatform app is also available to download onto mobiles, tablets, laptops and PCs.
There are lots of great features to enable readers to customise their reading experience, including being able to bookmark pages, change the font size and colour, change the background colour, highlight text, and make notes
