Library
The purpose built library is a welcoming, vibrant and busy space. It includes a classroom area; Chromebooks for students to study independently and to complete homework; a library with over 20,000 resources including books and magazines; and a comfortable seating area for quiet reading.
Displays, quizzes and competitions promote reading for pleasure, and students are encouraged to write reviews and to request new titles. Additional book-inspired events and activities take place throughout the year. Students can use Accessit, our on-line library catalogue, to search for books, read and write book reviews and find links to various approved websites.
The library is open most break and lunchtimes for students to choose and return library books. In addition, students have access to the library during library lessons as part of the English curriculum. Student librarians support the work of the librarian during lunchtimes, and new student librarians are always welcome!
Digital Resources
In addition to our print collection, students have access to a wide range of eBook titles through our permanent VLE digital collection and our subscription to Wheeler’s ePlatform. There are approximately 1,400 children’s and YA books available on the ePlatform which can be accessed by clicking the ELibrary Link below. Students will then be able to sign in using their Google account. The ePlatform app is also available to download onto mobiles, tablets, laptops and PCs.
There are lots of great features to enable readers to customise their reading experience, including being able to bookmark pages, change the font size and colour, change the background colour, highlight text, and make notes
