Attendance
What to do if your child is absent
Please contact the school on the attendance line: 01904 552103 on the first day of absence as soon as possible after 8.00am and each day thereafter.
Alternatively you can email
attendance@josephrowntreeschool.co.uk
If your child is marked absent and we have not heard from a parent or carer, the attendance office will contact you to confirm the reason for their absence either by phone or text.
If your child is refusing to attend school, please contact us and one of the pastoral team will be in touch.
Leave of absence requests
Any leave of absence requests will be reviewed by the Head teacher and will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances. Holidays should be taken outside term time.
A student absent from school for two weeks each year will miss the equivalent of two terms education over their school career. The Department of Education and Skills states that even a decrease to 90% attendance can be responsible for a drop of one GCSE level compared the those students who attend school regularly.
PLEASE NOTE: In accordance with the Education (Pupil Registration)(England) Regulations 2006 (amended), a pupil shall not be granted leave of absence unless there are 'exceptional circumstances'.
Please complete the online form on the link below at least 2 weeks before.
For full details, please refer to the Attendance Policy below.
If you have any further queries regarding attendance, please feel free to contact the attendance office.
