KS5 - History

A Level (EDEXCEL)

History at A level is the study of different periods of history, looking at concepts such as cause, consequence, significance as well as provenance and differences of interpretation.

We study:

  • Britain transformed, 1918-97
  • The USA 1920-55, boom and bust
  • The witch craze, 1580-1750
  • The Holocaust

We set exam practice assessments throughout the year, and this would be approximately 2/3 per half term. We also set a mock in January.

External exams take place for units 1-3 at the end of Year 13.

Unit 1: 30%, 2 hours 15 min

Unit 2: 20%, 1 hour 45 min

Unit 3: 30%, 2 hours 15 min

The coursework (Unit 4) is conducted throughout Year 13 with deadlines in place for different sections to stagger the workload.

The final deadline is before Easter in Year 13.
