KS4 - GCSE Music & BTEC Music Technology
GCSE Music
Curriculum Knowledge
Year 10
The first half term focuses on developing basic theory knowledge through short composition and performance tasks. This leads on from what they have learnt in KS3 and feeds into the listening exam but also builds their understanding of what is required during the course. Throughout the rest of Y10 the students look at the four areas of study and the first study piece. They will also complete short composition and performance tasks to develop their knowledge, resilience and ability to meet a deadline.
Year 11
The first term is focussed on completing the first composition and both performance elements of the course. This allows for time in term 2 to complete the final composition, refine any aspects of the coursework that are not up to standard, look at the second study piece and complete the necessary paperwork. The remaining time in Y11 is dedicated to revisiting the areas of study and the study pieces in highly focussed and differentiated sessions gearing them up towards the listening exam.
