GCSE Graphics

Year 10

Students start the year with a project designed to broaden knowledge and skills of various media and applications. With a completely self-selected theme, students are able to develop in depth skill in the application of both hand and computer based graphic design. A second project focuses on the 4 assessment criteria stipulated by the exam board and allows students to work through a project whilst observing both artists and themselves, experimenting with new and innovative techniques and developing their ideas to achieve a final outcome.

Year 11

Continuing on from the second project, students will design and make their final solutions using suitable machinery, equipment and graphical programmes. Component two is released in the New Year and includes several design briefs set by the exam board. Students can select which they would like to investigate and continue to observe, experiment and develop their ideas with a view to concluding their final solutions within a 10hr, classroom based exam. All work is presented in sketchbooks with final outcomes mounted and displayed on A1 boards.

GCSE 3D

Year 10

Students are studying the work of Anthony Gormley and are experimenting with shapes and texture. Developing skills to observe and realise varying textures, their practical skills will broaden and become more creative throughout the project. Students will then use their new skills to design and create a 3D self image. All work will be recorded in sketchbooks with photographic evidence being key to practical content.

Year 11

Continuing on from the second project, students will design and make their final solutions using suitable machinery, equipment and materials. Component two is released in the New Year and includes several design briefs set by the exam board. Students can select which they would like to investigate and continue to observe, experiment and develop their ideas with a view to concluding their final solutions within a 10hr, classroom based exam.
