Curriculum Knowledge
Year 7 French: Students will be talking about clothes, the weather and what you wear for different occasions. They will also be able to say what they do at the weekend and how often they do an activity. They will use simple reflexive verbs, time expressions, and learn how to develop their sentences.
Year 7 Spanish: Students will start the course learning how to greet others. They will be able to express their opinions and give reasons when talking about school subjects and free time. They will be able to talk about a variety of topics and recognise 2 time frames as well as being able to use and understand vocabulary about their town in all 4 skills areas.
Year 8 French: Students will be talking about sports they like and do. They will go into more detail as they learn how to say what winter and summer sport they would like to do.
Furthemore, they will develop knowledge vocabulary on body parts and injuries caused by sporting activities. They will talk about their favourite sports personalities and international events.
Year 8 Spanish: Students will be able to talk about technology and how they use social media. They will be able to write in 3 time frames in a variety of Spanish topics. Students will gain confidence with their speaking skills and express themselves with confidence on topics learnt.
Year 9 French: Students will talk about themselves and their family while learning new vocabulary. They will also talk about personal relationships, communicating online which will include online safety, television, music and films. They will learn how to add extra information to their writing and develop their sentences while adding opinions.
Year 9 Spanish: Students will talk about their likes and dislikes. They will also learn how to talk about their future job using different tenses. They will learn about healthy lifestyle, daily routine, develop conversations about fitness and will also learn how to cope with unprepared questions. They will talk about youth involvement in current matters such as fairtrade and children's rights. They will learn how to add extra information to their writing and develop their sentences while adding opinions.
Skill Development
Subject Specific Skills:
- To retain all vocabulary for each topic as this will be tested in Reading and Listening skills.
- To be able to write an essay which answers each bullet point and uses the structures and tenses learnt.
- To answer questions in the target language and develop speaking skills,
