Sponsor A Tree

Sponsor a tree and invest
The Joseph Rowntree School intend to create a traditional and vintage orchard within the
school grounds. Included in the traditional orchard there will be a small vintage orchard
comprising exclusively historic Yorkshire varieties.
school grounds. Included in the traditional orchard there will be a small vintage orchard
comprising exclusively historic Yorkshire varieties.
As a means of funding the initiative we are inviting the community to sponsor a tree for
either £35 or £50. We think the trees offer a wonderful way for individuals and groups to
make a donation that keeps on giving, both materially via the harvesting and selling of fruit
for up to 20 years, but also as a focus for beneficiary involvement for many years to come.
Your name and the variety of the tree you have sponsored will be on a map and or lectern
to be sited at the entrance and you will also receive a certificate of ownership. Sponsoring
a tree can provide a unique gift for a family member, friend or in memoriam.

The project will be managed by the School and Orchards of Husthwaite.
Sponsorship and varieties
There is potential for nearly 300 trees to be financed from grants funding and individual
sponsorship. Your sponsorship covers the cost to the school of purchasing the tree and the
appropriate compost, feed, stake and protection (from rabbits etc) and the cost of pruning
and management for the first 12 months after planting.
